The true intention of yoga is to cultivate awareness. The physical postures known as asanas are a means to create alignment in the body for comfort and health. When we are sick or in pain, it is hard to hear, see or feel anything else.
When walking in nature on a peaceful day, you can hear the sound of the wind, the rustling of the leaves in the trees, birds chirping and feel the warmth from the rays of the sun or even taste the crispness of the cold wintry air. Often times on the narrowest most desolate path, earth’s beauty and bountiful blessings are visible and alive.
When the body is comfortable, the mind can be still. It is in stillness that perception can arise and we can begin to observe and see all life has to offer.
Similar to a storm cloud passing thru, outer distractions pass by. We cannot always change the circumstance, but we can change the way we see.
